Due to critical acclaim and an entirely sold-out summer run, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) recently announced a fall extension with a new block of tickets

Originally scheduled to play through August, the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof that opened on July 15, and directed by Joel Grey, will now play through Oct. 25.

It's the first time that the Yiddish translation of Fiddler on the Roof has been performed in America and it has been 50 years since it took place in Israel.

The production will continue its run at the Museum of Jewish Heritage with an updated performance schedule that includes Saturday evening performances, presented with English and Russian supertitles.

Cindy Adams of the New York Post, wrote “Marvelous. Magical. Magnificent.” and “Joel Grey deserves another Tony for directing this history of the shtetl of Anatevka in the shadow of Miss Liberty.”

Playing the iconic roles of Yente and Golde are, respectively, comedian and Emmy Award nominee Jackie Hoffman (Charlie And the Chocolate Factory, The Addams Family, Hairspray, Xanadu), and Jennifer Babiak (West Side Story, Grease, Evita).

“It’s an incredible joy and privilege to know that audiences and critics alike have been deeply moved by this historic presentation,” said NYTF Chief Executive Officer and two-time Tony Award-nominated producer Christopher Massimine. “Given the extraordinary response, it’s a spectacular delight to extend performances through the fall.”

Performances take place at the Museum of Jewish Heritage at Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place in Manhattan.
